Moon Jae-in , candidate of the Democratic Party , the main opposition party, has won the  19^th presidential election which was conducted in ROK on May 9^th 2017 with %41.1 of the total votes with a big margin from all his opponents including the candidate of the ruling Liberty Party who acknowledged his defeat. Mr. Moon, the winner, has immediately stated his official duties as the new president without waiting for an official ceremony in view of the sensitive nature for this early than usual election that followed the presidential scandal that led to the impeachment and subsequent ouster of the former president Park Geun-hye.
