Qatar has welcomed ILO decision to close its 2014 complaint against the state of Qatar, as it constitutes an acknowledgement of the important steps the government of Qatar has taken to develop a modern labor system that is fair to employers and employees alike.  

Recently the State of Qatar years has initiated a sweeping new programs to upgrade workers’ housing by creating modern accommodations for the nation’s migrant laborers to match the international standards.  The state of Qatar has also increased health care facilities for the nation’s migrant workers. Additionally, the government inaugurated new labor rules related to entry and leave of foreign workers, with a wage protection system put in place to facilitate banks transfer of workers’ pay. 

Several NGOs like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the International Trade Union Confederation have praised the reforms taken by the state of Qatar to improve migrant workers’ conditions and protect their rights.
