HH the Emir and US President Hold Bilateral Meeting

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met on Tuesday, April 10,2018, at the White House, with HE President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani stressed that the State of Qatar does not and will not tolerate people who support and fund terrorism.

HH the Emir explained in statements to the media at the beginning of his bilateral meeting at the White House with HE President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, that the State of Qatar cooperates with the United States of America to stop the funding of terrorism around the region. HH the Emir said that the military cooperation between the two countries is solid and strong, reaffirming that Al Udeid Airbase is the heart of operations in fighting terrorism, and noting that it has been a very successful campaign against the terrorist groups in the region.

HH the Emir added that the Qatari-U.S. relations are strong and well established for more than 45 years, highlighting that the economic cooperation between the two countries is over $125 billion and the two countries are looking forward to double this cooperation in the coming years.

HE the U.S. president had welcomed HH the Emir and the accompanying delegation at the beginning of the meeting, and stressed the strength of the personal relationship between him and HH the Emir even before the U.S. president entered the world of politics.

HH the Emir of Qatar "is very popular in his country" and "his people love him," HE the U.S. president said, stressing the strength of strategic relations between Qatar and the United States and the continuous and excellent cooperation between the two countries.

HE the U.S. president added that he has been working with HH the Emir for a number of years before the counterterrorism operations, pointing out that it is important to stop the funding of terrorism in the region, especially in countries that are related to the United States, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral strategic relations between the two friendly countries and ways of boosting and developing them in the different fields, especially in expanding cooperation in economy, investment and the military and defense fields.

The meeting also dealt with a number of current regional and international issues.
