Impacts of Blockade and Unilateral Coercive Measures on Human Rights in the State of Qatar

Four Arab Countries, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut their relationships and their maritime, land and air borders with the State of Qatar and imposed un unethical and illegal blockade on the State of  Qatar On June,5th,2017.

These countries also took measures including expulsion of Qatari citizens from the three Gulf Countries within no later than 14 days, and asked their citizens to leave the State of Qatar within two weeks and not to visit Qatar, in addition to other measures.

With the illegal and unethical blockade entering its second year, it is imperative to highlight the humanitarian impacts of the blockade which has been violating the individual and family rights of Qatari citizens, and their rights to education, movement, health, work and personal properties:

Right to Education: Qatari students were prevented from either pursuing their studies or passing their exams. Many students in these countries were ordered to immediately return to Qatar, often by the administration of universities

Right to Movement: more than 11387 nationals of the three blockade countries residing in Qatar, and 1927 Qatari nationals live in the blockade countries, all were prevented to move, after closing borders with Qatar.
